Mindful Living Workshops

Starting on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 Nancy will be offering this new mindfulness-based weekly drop-in class at The Studio at 126 Walker Street Lexington, VA 24450:

"Into Stillness: Mindfulness-Based Practices for Calming and Grounding" - 1 hour

A new weekly drop-in class for middle schoolers through adults of all ages

will start on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 4-5pm

at The Studio in Lexington, VA.

 

Take an hour to quiet your mind and calm your body. Learn body and breath practices to help you leave worry and come to the present moment. Your total health will benefit by releasing what you are carrying in your body and mind. And in stillness you can find spaciousness and peace.

 

This drop-in class will be offered weekly for $10.00/person (cash preferred) and will be guided by Nancy Johnston.

 

Come in comfortable clothing and bring a mat if you have one. Mats will also be available for use in class.

About Nancy and Mindfulness

​

Nancy has been offering Mindful Living classes in Lexington, VA since 2001. These classes are modeled after the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn. Nancy first learned the practice of mindfulness in 1995 from the staff at the University of Virginia’s Stress Reduction and Relaxation Program. Those staff members studied with Kabat-Zinn and modeled their program after his.

 

The Mindful Living classes are designed to increase each person’s ability to be in the present moment. Nancy continues to be amazed at the extent to which this ability can help with anxiety, depression, tangled relationships, and a healthy connection to self - to name just a few of the benefits of mindfulness. These classes involve learning to follow your breath, to use gentle hatha yoga to bring mindfulness to your body, and to learn and use the body scan to further your presence and awareness in the moment.
