Disentangle Workshops

Nancy conducts workshops on her book, Disentangle: When You’ve Lost Your Self in Someone Else, in blocks of time varying from 4 hours to 2 days. These workshops are designed so the individuals participating in them will have adequate time for reflection and application of the material. Usually Nancy’s emphasis is on helping the participants learn the material “from the inside out.” In other words, she finds it most effective for the participants to learn the material first for their own applications and then to apply it beyond self as their personal understanding and work allows.

The content of these Disentangle workshops is organized around the four areas of work identified in her book: Facing Illusions, Detaching, Setting Healthy Boundaries, and Developing Spirituality. Through Nancy’s clinical work over the past 20 years, she has repeatedly found these four areas of work to be important in the cultivation of a healthy self, and she presents a number of skills in each of these areas to foster self growth in a balanced and effective way.

As is true of the book, these workshops on Disentangle: When You’ve Lost Your Self in Someone Else are useful for people who:

  • are dealing with codependency;

  • are the partner of an addict;

  • are the parent of an addict;

  • are adult children of people with addiction;

  • want to fix others;

  • take care of others more than themselves;

  • are being emotionally or physically hurt in their relationships;

  • want to get out of a relationship and can’t;

  • feel they have to be in full control of everything;

  • mold themselves according to how they think others want them to be;

  • focus more on the external than the internal;

  • are unable to say “no.”

Nancy would enjoy designing a workshop for your needs or having you attend one that she offers at her center. Feel free to contact her.
